Hacktoberfest '24 Live Leaderboard, GDSC RAIT
Real-time contribution tracker built for 200+ developers during Hacktoberfest 2024. A GitHub webhook stream processes 1,000+ PR events with rate limiting and auto-ranking updates. Deployed on AWS EC2 behind Nginx, and held 99.99% uptime under concurrent load throughout the event.
Overview
GDSC RAIT's live leaderboard for Hacktoberfest 2024, used by 200+ developers throughout the event. Rather than polling GitHub, it consumes a webhook stream: each of the 1,000+ pull-request events is rate-limited, stored in MongoDB and re-ranks the board as it arrives.
The backend ran on AWS EC2 behind an Nginx reverse proxy and held 99.99% uptime under concurrent load for the whole event.
